A Free quilt block pattern from us to you!
UPDATE NOVEMBER 2020 – TOTAL DONATIONS MADE: $6,545 – $2,000 matched by Modern Domestic
What started as a creative way to connect while social distancing, this quilt block is now an avenue to raise funds for the Family Stabilization Fund for BIPOC (Black, Indigenous, People of Color) families in need in our local neighborhood. This fund, organized by SEI, prioritizes households in our neighborhood in NE Portland who have been impacted negatively by COVID-19 and not receiving adequate government aid.
As a team, we’ve been encouraged by this project and the positive response we saw immediately! The warmth of home we’ve created at MD looks a bit different these days, but we’re thrilled to see it is still very much alive and well through projects like this.
We hope this free Take Heart quilt block pattern helps you know we are thinking about you and sends you a bit of warmth we all need. Both the process of quilting and knowing it will ultimately help the community certainly brings a comfort. We hope you feel it too!
Feel free to share the block with your friends and family. Together we can take heart knowing we will see each other on the other side of this.
Take heart. Take Action.
We are no longer taking block donations.
We received hundreds of quilt blocks from our community near and far! Your blocks were used to create four quilts, three were raffled for fundraising, and one was donated to SEI.
We were been blown away by the amount of quilt blocks we received!
Blocks that were mailed to Modern Domestic were used to make quilts to raise funds for the Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Elementary School Family Stabilization Fund. This organization prioritizes households impacted negatively by COVID-19 who are not receiving adequate government aid.
