Springtime Home Decor

You may have noticed some similarities between these pillows I blogged about…

and the ones currently being used to promote the 2nd We All Sew Challenge from BERNINA.

Yep, they’re the same! I was asked to create some home decor with a springtime feel. I did the set of three pillows, some of my simple hoop projects, these springtime napkins and some dishtowels seen here in another promo shot for the challenge.

I started the design process by establishing my color story. I love playing warm and cool so I selected a range of colors including a mid-tone grey, a warmish split-pea green, an intense salmon pink and the perfect gold. I wanted colors that complimented each other but also surprised you as well. Fabric provides alot of inspiration for me. All my fabric came from Bolt–Michael Miller’s Sea Scallop in Coral, Robert Kaufman Linen/Cotton blend in Flax, 100% Hemp Summercloth, Kaffe Fassett Shot Cotton in Steel, and a Freespirit Voile in Tangerine.

If you’re inspired too, step up to the challenge. Upcycle anything you’re no longer in love with into a winning home decor project! You can also vote for your favorites, all over on BERNINA’s facebook page. Next time, I’ll tell you more about the embroidery designs I chose!
