Cheryl Arkison, a Canadian-based quilt designer, will be in town for Quilt Market and will be guest-teaching at Modern Domestic on Saturday, May 18th. Her first book, co-authored with Amanda Jean Nyberg, is called Sunday Morning Quilts, and we are pleased to carry it in the shop! Her second book, A Month of Sundays, will be published in July 2013.
In Cheryl’s class, she will discuss value, which is what our eye reads as light, dark, and medium. Quilting by value versus by color alone adds an interesting depth to a quilt. In class you’ll focus on determining value, regardless of colour, in a pile of fabric. You’ll leave class with enough blocks for a small quilt top (pillow to crib-sized). We are looking forward to having Cheryl in the shop! To sign up for her class, click here. Make sure to stop in and check out her book as well.
