Who knew learning to sew with knits would be so popular for 2010? It was a resolution of mine, but apparently I wasn’t the only one. Sally’s t-shirt class has been so popular that we have added not one but two new sessions. They are also filling fast, and if you want to make either the knit dress or the panties and cami, you need this class (or equivalent experience) first.
We have also added a session of the lovely Liverpool Tunic/Shirt from Amy Butler. Perfect for spring in all sorts of light weight prints or lovely in a shot cotton or other solid, this class will really increase your skill set. Collar, cuffs, button holes, placket, there is no detail overlooked with this project.
There are some new kids clothes classes from Shelly Figueroa. Hot off the presses she is offering classes in 3 of her newest patterns: Ofelia Dress, Board Shorts, and Hoodie. The Ofelia dress is perfectly sweet and simple. The lovely delicate details of the trim and the decorative stitch hem are perfectly achieved with some of those fancy stitches on our Bernina or Janome classroom machines. In the Board Shorts and Hoodie Classes, you create wearable garments for boys (or girls) with special attention to the inside of the project. They are made for kids with sensory issues who require non-irritating clothing. What kid doesn’t like a smooth and well finished piece of clothing?
We also have added some more Sew Basic classes in May, and have a whole host of fun classes for kids and teens for spending their summer days in our light filled and air conditioned store creating projects to use for years to come. Kids and teen Summer Sewing Camp sessions have been added in June, July and August. For the full list and online sign up click on over here.

A new Learn To Sew PJ’s session has been added on a weekend day! This class will get you through learn to thread and use the sewing machine, a good understanding of terms, as well as working from a commercial pattern and whipping out a great pair of wearable pajama pants.
We still have space in many of our classes and continue to add sessions as they fill, whether you want to sew your first dress or skirt, learn the fine art of silk screen, or make a quilt, MD offers great options!
