May’s Society project–Spring Clutch

Sign up now for May’s Sewing Society. This month we’ll be focusing on an accessory that’s perfect for spring–a clutch!

The clutch is a perfect size for, say, a wallet, phone, and keys. I designed it using Rashida Coleman-Hale’s Tsuru fabric and the Essex linen/cotton blend in denim. To add dimension to the body of the bag (and spice up the Essex) I chose pintucks. They’re incredibly rewarding to work with, effortless, and provide a nice subtle detail. I like to rock mine at an angle.

Another great detail I added was a purse frame that will remain open, making it easy to find what you need inside and then keep it closed with a magnetic snap. I’ll show you how to easily insert these for a professional looking finish.

As always, Society meetings are the first Saturday of every month at 10:00 & 11:00 AM. Don’t forget to bring something for Show & Tell!
