Looking for a fun design challenge?

Look no further than Modified Style!  The annual fashion show fundraiser is happening on May 1st at 6:00 pm at Disjecta.  For additional event details, including how to enter, check out last week’s post, which can be found here.  This event will have you asking yourself questions like “what can I make out of 10 yards of dyed cheesecloth, a few squares of athletic mesh, and the armpits of some old t-shirts?” The answer, at least for myself and my design partner, was this little beauty:

If you’re worried about not having a list of supermodels on your speed dial to show off your work, never fear — many of last year’s participants modeled their garments themselves, or recruited a friend (or in my case, my design partner) to strut their stuff on the runway.

Come to Modern Domestic on Saturday, February 19th from 4:00 – 6:00 pm! We’re hosting an event where you can meet the lovely ladies who run Modified Style, pick up your bag of fabric, pay your entry fee, and enjoy some beverages and light snacks.  If you can’t make it to the Meet-and-Greet, we will also have bags of fabric available for pick up during our regular business hours until February 26th.

If you want to participate, make sure to email info@modifiedstyle.org before the February 15th deadline to register. This is your chance to get creative and make something beautiful out of mesh and cheesecloth, or whatever crazy fabric scraps end up in your bag!
