Local Authors make September Amazing at MD

We are such a crafty, quilty, sewing city! With amazing the bloggers and authors we are proud to call friends and teachers here at MD, it is no wonder that we get to host 3 local author book release events this fall. We had a blast last month with Christina and Diane as they kicked off the release of Quilting Happiness and are super excited to offer you a taste of free-motion quilting to celebrate Christina Cameli’s great new book First Steps to Free-Motion Quilting! We will follow that up with Sewing for all Seasons and a little friday evening fun with Susan Beal? Really? We are so lucky we are pinching ourselves! So much goodness!

Christina Cameli will be here ready to show you some free-motion skills Friday, September 20th at 6pm. We will have her hot off the press book in the shop, and she will do a free-motion demo and share a few of her wonderful tricks and tips. She is also going to offer some quilting advice for those of you stuck with unfinished quilt tops, so bring them along! She will share her suggestions about what quilting patterns would work where and how to turn that unfinished top into a quilt to love forever. Christina has also promised to bring some beer to sip and if you have not met her, you will find her personality so approachable, fun and inspiring! Beer? Free-motion quilting? Yes Please! Check out Christina’s current fall classes here!

The following Friday, September 27th, Susan Beal will join us to explore her new book Sewing for all Seasons. This is a beautiful book with loads of small to medium sewing projects that will get your fall off to a stichy start. Susan is a book publishing veteran and local sewing and crafting hero. Her warmth and friendliness always make spending time with her a joy! We will have a gallery of her quilts in the classroom for this event, a sort of retrospective of her quilting work. Fun!
