Take Heart Pattern

What started as a creative way to connect while social distancing in the spring of 2020, this quilt block is now a tool to raise funds for those in need. Read below to learn how you too can use this block to help your community.

Whether life is joyful and sunny or uncertain and cloudy, it’s important to take heart; to gather your optimism and meditate on all there is to be grateful for. That is why we originally created this TAKE HEART quilt block. May it bring you a sense of ease while enjoying the quilting process, no matter what may be going on around us.

Coordinate your own fundraiser:

Are you part of a quilt shop or guild interested in coordinating your own fundraiser with this pattern? Here are a few helpful tips:

  • Select a local nonprofit to support
  • Forward this pattern to participants who want to contribute in making donated quilt blocks.
  • Provide a deadline to drop off donated quilt blocks.
  • Coordinate with quilters to piece and finish quilt(s) by a designated date.
  • Sell $5 raffle tickets to win a finished quilt using donated quilt blocks.
  • Match donations if possible!
  • Gift a quilt to your organization (if applicable).

 

MD’s 2020 Take Heart Raffle Fundraiser

Take Heart Quilt Block Modern Domestic

MD’s Take Heart Quilt Raffle Fundraiser was a major community effort. We were blown away by the amount of quilt blocks and letters we received, not to mention the raffle ticket purchases! MD matched $2,000 in donations, making a total of $6,545 to local BIPOC families in our neighborhood. Hundreds of donated blocks were made into four quilts (three raffled and one donated to SEI). All raffle ticket proceeds went to Dr. Martin Luther King Jr Elementary School’s Family Stabilization Fund, assisting BIPOC families who have not received adequate government aid during COVID-19.
