Crazy about Crazy Piecing

A few weeks ago I had the opportunity to take Katie Pedersen’s Modern Crazy Piecing Workshop at Modern Domestic. Katie and her friend Lotta, who helped teach our class, spent the day inspiring us and sharing their secrets for how to make exciting crazy pieced quilt blocks. By the first hour of class the walls were filled with colorful strips!

Everyone kept busy cutting, arranging, sewing and practicing an angle piecing technique that we learned. It was exciting to see everyone’s blocks come together up on the design walls. Katie remarked at one point that this was the “quietest group” she had ever taught! I guess we wanted to make the most of our time with Katie and Lotta while they were here.

Katie took time at the end of class to sign copies of her book Quilting Modern which she co-authored with Jacquie Gering. Everyone agreed that we want Katie to come back soon and work with us again! — Michelle
