Two Day Workshop: Quilted Wall Hanging
October 28 @ 2:30 pm - 6:00 pm PDT$147
Instructor: Windsor Meyer
Skill Level: Beginner/Advanced Beginner (no quilting experience is necessary)*, ages 15 and up
Sessions: 2 sessions, 3.5 hours per session
In this two day workshop, Windsor breaks down the steps of quilting into easy to process, bite size pieces. You’ll gain a clear understanding of the quilting process and have lots of time for experimentation and play.
Together you’ll discuss the use of color, texture, and value in a quilted composition and get hands-on practice with foundational quilt techniques including half square triangle, 9 patch, and log cabin blocks. You’ll leave class with a unique (designed and sewn by you) quilted wall hanging!
All class supplies are available for purchase at Modern Domestic. Please purchase supplies in advance of your class. You are welcome to purchase supplies online and pick up the day of your class, just select NE Alberta Store for pick-up. If you plan to shop in-store for supplies the day of your class, we recommend allowing at least 45 minutes to shop. Please note that our store hours are Monday-Saturday, 10am-5pm.
– 5-7 fat quarters (optional – Choose your fabric during class with Windsor’s support.)
– 1/2 yard backing fabric
– 1 fat quarter for binding
– 1/2 yard batting
– 1 spool of Mettler Metrosene All-Purpose Polyester Thread
*Skill Level: Advanced Beginner – You have a good handle on the basics and are ready to dip your toe into more challenging waters. You’re still fairly new to sewing from patterns and could use help with how to manipulate the pattern to get a better fit. You want to add some new skills to your repertoire (invisible zippers, setting-in sleeves, sewing with a serger, etc.). Classes generally require homework.
