Stepladder: Improv Quilting Workshop with Robin O’Neil

In this one day workshop you will learn how to make samples of eight different improv quilt components: such as checkerboards, floating squares, chevrons, and curve cutouts. These components are all done “free hand” without rulers, templates, or grids. You decide how to assemble each component – in columns, rows, or medallion style – to make your own unique quilt.
All class supplies are available for purchase at Modern Domestic. Please purchase supplies in advance of your class. You are welcome to purchase supplies online and pick up the day of your class, just select NE Alberta Store for pick-up. If you plan to shop in-store for supplies the day of your class, we recommend arriving at least 45 minutes early. Please note that our store hours are Monday-Saturday, 10am-5pm.
Supply List:
8-11 ½ yd pieces of cotton fabric with a range of colors light to dark, prints and/or solids – The more choices, the more fun!
*Skill Level: Beginner – You’ve taken a class or two and are starting to get comfortable with the basics. You know what a seam allowance is, you’ve sewn a little on your own, but you still need a little help with remembering how to thread the machine and wind a bobbin. These classes usually have little if any homework to complete outside of class time. The prerequisite for any Beginner class is a Sew Basics class, Learn to Sew class, or equivalent. This skill level is not for people who have never used a sewing machine before.
