Ready for picnics in the park? This top is perfect for a casual date in the green! The Sagebrush Top is an elegant and easy-to-sew blouse that is a joy to make and wear. The simple design of the top lends itself well to customization including many, many sizes! Loose without being baggy, the type of breezy fit you’ll want to wear all Summer and into the Fall. Generous puff sleeves and gathers across the front make it comfortable to move in. The tie at the back neckline makes it simple and cute! The Sagebrush looks great tucked into something high waisted. In this class you’ll learn how to fit a pattern to your body, set in sleeves, and use a serger for a professional finish.
- Pattern Required: Sagebrush Top by Friday Pattern Company
- Fabric required for size desired, prewashed (recommend light to medium weight woven fabric with good drape, ie. brushed cotton, gauze, lawn, chambray, linen)
- Swedish Tracing Paper
- 1 Spool All Purpose Polyester Thread, recommend Mettler Metrosene
- 1 yard of ½” wide elastic
Please purchase supplies in advance of your class. Make sure to pre-wash your fabric in advance of class. This prevents possible fabric shrinkage that could otherwise make your finished garment too small.
What is an Advanced Beginner Level Class at Modern Domestic?
You have a good handle on the basics and are ready to dip your toe into more challenging waters. You’re still fairly new to sewing from patterns and could use help with how to manipulate the pattern to get a better fit. You want to add some new skills to your repertoire (invisible zippers, setting-in sleeves, sewing with a serger, etc.). Classes generally require homework.
