$189
Instructor: Rachel Halse
Skill Level: Beginner*, ages 15 and up
The Tessuti Robe is long, loose and features a neck band with hanging loop, dropped shoulders, wide bracelet length sleeves, sleeve bands and large patch pockets – all wrapped up with a tie belt that feeds through rouleau belt loops. It is suitable for a range of lightweight fabrics and can be made longer or shorter for the perfect loungewear, beach cover up, duster or evening jacket.
The class will cover a basic pattern construction, beginner friendly garment sewing techniques, basic serger skills, and lots of practice at ironing hemming! This class is suitable for those who are just dipping their toes into sewing for the first time, and those with more experience that want to sew in a friendly environment. Who knows what fun tips, tricks and tidbits you might pick up on the way?
All class supplies are available for purchase at Modern Domestic. Please purchase supplies in advance of your class. You are welcome to purchase supplies online and pick up the day of your class, just select NE Alberta Store for pick-up. If you plan to shop in-store for supplies the day of your class, we recommend allowing at least 45 minutes to shop. Please note that our store hours are Monday-Saturday, 10am-5pm.
Supply List:
– Fabric required for size and view desired, pre-washed. This pattern was designed especially for woven. Light to medium weight fabrics like cotton lawn and linen/rayon blends are beginner friendly fabrics that would be a great match for this pattern.
– 1 spool of Mettler Metrosene All-Purpose Polyester Thread (coordinating or color matching with exterior fabric is recommended)
Please note: This pattern goes up to a 52” hip. For extended sizing the Veronik Robe by Closet Core is available for purchase online (here) as a great substitute!
*Skill Level: Beginner – You’ve taken a class or two and are starting to get comfortable with the basics. You know what a seam allowance is, you’ve sewn a little on your own, but you still need a little help with remembering how to thread the machine and wind a bobbin. These classes usually have little if any homework to complete outside of class time. The prerequisite for any Beginner class is a Sew Basics class, Learn to Sew class, or equivalent. This skill level is not for people who have never used a sewing machine before.
