Elodie is a modern take on a classic wrap dress. Romantic and flowy with multiple skirt and sleeve options, it’s equally appropriate at a park picnic or a special wedding.
Elodie features a softly flowing bodice, with release pleats under the bust and a dolman style sleeve. Choose between a short sleeve or a longer, more formal option that ends at the elbow. The skirt is swishy and voluminous and comes in three lengths, above the knee, midi or maxi, with optional patch pockets.
This class will cover garment construction for all views, as well as fun finishing techniques like serging and French seams.
All class supplies are available for purchase at Modern Domestic. Please purchase supplies in advance of your class. You are welcome to purchase supplies online and pick up the day of your class, just select NE Alberta Store for pick-up. If you plan to shop in-store for supplies the day of your class, we recommend allowing at least 45 minutes to shop. Please note that our store hours are Monday-Saturday, 10am-5pm.
Supply List:
– Elodie Wrap Dress Pattern by Closet Core
– Fabric required for size and length desired, pre-washed. Elodie can be made in a wide variety of fabrics. Light to medium weight wovens like linen, cotton poplin, batiste, voile and chambray will have a more casual feel. Choose a drapey woven like silk, viscose, tencel or rayon challis for a more elegant or fluid effect. For beginners we highly recommend a more stable woven cotton lawn.
– 1 spool of Mettler Metrosene All-Purpose Polyester Thread (coordinating or color matching with exterior fabric is recommended)
*Skill Level: Advanced Beginner – You have a good handle on the basics and are ready to dip your toe into more challenging waters. You’re still fairly new to sewing from patterns and could use help with how to manipulate the pattern to get a better fit. You want to add some new skills to your repertoire (invisible zippers, setting-in sleeves, sewing with a serger, etc.). Classes generally require homework.
