I recently moved into a new apartment and have been in major redesign mode and furniture finding! Every living space is different and major changes like a new sofa can really lead the direction of the other choices and changes. My last living room was rooted in pinks, reds, and golds and I’m seeing turquoise, … Continued
On our recent trip to NYC, Mere, Lupine and I visited The City Quilter, Meredith’s store that she managed before she moved to Portland. We all picked up some fun fabric that we hadn’t seen locally, and we found this gem that had only a couple of yards left on it. Of course we all … Continued
I had the supreme privilege of attending Denyse Schmidt’s workshop at PNCA this past weekend. After she graciously stopped by MD for the book signing and trunk show Friday night, she was prepared bright and early Saturday to lead us breaking down and reimagining a traditional quilt block.

Characterized by curved piecing and a play on scale, the Portland Peel is a fresh interpretation with the bonus of REAL acrylic templates. Combined with … Continued
I finished quilting and binding the second of my twin sized quilts! Honestly, I have been wanting to make my lovely daughters quilts for their beds for years, but the thought of actually quilting them was just too daunting. Once we set up the quilt frame and BERNINA 820, there was absolutely nothing to stop … Continued
I am absolutely in love with Clover’s Trace & Create Quilt Templates. They come in a couple different designs — the uber traditional Lone Star and Hexagon patterns. Both templates make these more advanced designs a lot simpler and frankly, more likely to use.
We all know contemporary sewing machines are going to come with decorative stitches to complement the utility stitches. But why?
