Happy last long weekend of summer! We are CLOSED MONDAY, SEPT 3rd for Labor Day. There will be bar-b-q’s, long walks, date nights, bike rides, sewing, and much more on this last hurrah of summer. Please come see us again Tuesday! And don’t forget, that back to school means time to sew for many of … Continued
I loved getting fresh school supplies in preparation for the new school year–fresh pencils, a new Trapper Keeper, different colored notebooks. As your kiddos get ready to go back to school, don’t forget you can too! Fall classes are posted on our website and are a great place to start building skills, making friends, and … Continued
We have a new quilting teacher here at MD and I’m thrilled to introduce Heather Davidson!
The much anticipated Summer Classroom Machine Sale starts tomorrow! You can be the proud owner of a BERNINA 530, BERNINA 350PE, or BERNINA 800DL Serger. A few weeks back, Erica, Amy and I all bought dress forms. The thing is, when you get a dress form, RARELY does it fit your exact dimensions. A custom made dress form will run you well over $1000, so instead, our dear Amy Alan taught Erica and me how to customize our dress forms … Continued
MD has been a fan of Sewaholic patterns for a few months now. Ever since Erica proposed teaching the Minoru Jacket pattern (I have now made three!) we have been great supporters of Tasia’s patterns. She makes patterns to flatter the pear shaped body. Yes, that’s me and so many others. Baby got back! When … Continued
I finished quilting and binding the second of my twin sized quilts! Honestly, I have been wanting to make my lovely daughters quilts for their beds for years, but the thought of actually quilting them was just too daunting. Once we set up the quilt frame and BERNINA 820, there was absolutely nothing to stop … Continued
Sewing projects at MD spread around the staff like wildfire. One minute we are all working on quilts, the next machine embroidery, and currently is seems to be knits. We are all crazy right now sewing (and teaching) knit patterns, from dresses to t-shirts, the Renfrew (love) and leggings: check out these classes.
I am absolutely in love with Clover’s Trace & Create Quilt Templates. They come in a couple different designs — the uber traditional Lone Star and Hexagon patterns. Both templates make these more advanced designs a lot simpler and frankly, more likely to use.
Part of what we’re happy to provide to our BERNINA machine owners is quality education. It starts with your first Machine Owner Class where we cover the basics–proper threading, buttonhole making, memory functions, Temporary Altered Stitch Memory, plus more! But your machine can do so much more and I’d love for you to join me … Continued
