Here at MD we are so excited to introduce Karen Bachofner as one of our new quilt teachers! Karen is not new to teaching, but she is new to us, and we are so happy to welcome her into the Modern Domestic family.
Katie Peterson is in the house! She joins us this time to teach two back to back workshops this weekend. Join her for the Seeing Value workshop this Saturday, June 21st from 10am-5pm and on Sunday, June 22nd from 10am-5pm for her Double Trouble Triangle Workshop.
At Modern Domestic, we are crazy about making cowls! With spring approaching, we are using pretty double gauze and Liberty of London prints to make cowls, which are lighter in weight than knit scarves, and still so beautiful!
Meet Mary Morse, one of the young sewists who recently joined us for a Machine Owners class. Mary has been sewing a couple of months and has jumped right into learning how to use her Bernette 25. Her favorite thing to sew are pillows and dresses.

For the last few weeks we’ve had kids in the shop every day learning to sew and making projects.
We have lots of fun summer classes lined up for the month of July. These all have spaces still available. Come join us in the fun!
Last night was this Summer’s first session of one of our most popular Kids Sewing Camps. Six budding sewists set up a table outside of the shop and displayed the items they’ve spent all week making in the One Week Boutique camp in order to sell at Last Thursday.
The latest session of my Classic Shirt Dress class wrapped up this week. I had such a great time with these ladies, and everyone made absolutely adorable dresses!
In July I’m teaching April Rhode’s The Staple Dress pattern. I’m so excited to be able to offer a dress class appropriate for beginning sewists.
