Paper Piecing with Carolyn Friedlander

Pattern maker, fabric designer, and truly amazing quilter Carolyn Friedlander spent all day Monday at the shop teaching back-to-back classes.

The first up was the Aerial Wall Hanging class. Everyone chose such gorgeous fabric combinations. One student incorporated fabric from curtains that hung in her bedroom when she was a little girl combined with some fresh and modern prints. The result was beautiful. I can’t wait to see everyone’s finished projects.

Carolyn’s second class was the Olive Wall Hanging. I’ve never done paper piecing before, so Heather gave me a quick little demo on how it’s done, and showed me how to use an add-a-quarter ruler (which we now carry in the shop!). It pays to lurk around the classroom with a camera, you never know what you’re going to learn next!

If you’re interested in making either of these projects, we are carrying both patterns in the shop.
