Lupine, Michelle, and I have just returned from BERNINA University in San Francisco! I wanted to share a bit of the experience and give you a sneak peak at the fun.
Every year it’s in another exciting city. You may remember my re-cap last year after Washington D.C.’s trip or caught our first BU experience in San Antonio TX. This year our view from the San Francisco hotel couldn’t be more spectacular–a clear view of the Bay Bridge!
Always ready for fabric shopping, we hit up Britex one afternoon. Lots of goodies for sure.
New machines are coming soon(ish). What I’m most excited for? The new sergers of course!! The new 460 boasts auto tension, extension table, an easier looper threader…and a FREE HAND SYSTEM! Raise and lower your presser foot with your knee! Wait–what else?! The advanced foot control we all know and love on our sewing machines will be there too! Lower and raise your serger needle with your foot!! GAH-I’M SO EXCITED. This, my friends, is revolutionary!
Plus there’s so much more coming! Keep watching for updates on the new 560 (amazing touch screen, embroidery capable, VERY attractive price) and the new 880!
Then there’s my favorite part–the classes! This year I took some in quilting, serging, and DesignWorks.
Make Drunkards Path blocks easy with Cutwork and embroidery applique. Curved echo quilting is liberating using the #55 Leather Roller foot. No need to lower your feed dogs!
Using CutWork and Paintwork, I created a faux-leather zip pouch. Sometimes you can’t find the perfect fabric so you have to paint your own!
