Over the weekend I decided it was time to create my first machine embroidery masterpiece. I have been making moves toward embracing all the magic that is machine embroidery since we became an Excellence Dealer last year. I have admired the little hooped machine embroidery images that Meredith created last year, and now have decided that my own home needs some hoop decor.
For this project, I started with all stock images from the BERNINA 580E, except the deer head, which was straight off the bernette Deco. I used the basic fonts and grabbed some cute phrases off Pintrest. Then the fun began. With a limited color pallette of Mettler Pollysheen and Isacord thread, muslin, and stabilizer I began sewing out these cute little images, phrases and designs. Then I got a little crazy and did some tiny little 3″ hoops with just parallel rows of decorative stitches.
This kind of simple machine embroidery goes quickly and is instantly gratifying. While I love handwork, and this project would lend itself to that as well, the speed and playfulness of machine embroidery made it super fun.
