We have had the chance to preview a copy of Susan Beal’s new quilting book Modern Log Cabin Quilting, and let’s just say it is WONDERFUL! For the quilter, sewists, crafter, and more, there is something in there for everyone. The log cabin block is so very iconic of quilting, and Susan’s lovely interpretation, complete with loads of quilts, small projects, totes, and more show off this lovely block in both familiar and new ways.
Susan will be at Modern Domestic signing copies of her book the very week it comes out, April 2nd from 5-6pm. We will have books to purchase, Susan on hand to sign them and do a little demo, and a little snack and beverage too. One of our teachers, Daniela Caine, who contributed two projects to the book will be on hand as well.
Don’t miss this great night of log cabin love, a local author, and a quilt oriented sewing night to follow the event. As the event wraps up, stay and sew with us for $10 from 6-9pm. We provide luxurious BERNINA machines, tools, cutting equipment, presser feet and more for 3 whole hours of stitching fun. You can sign up on-line to save a spot (there are only 16!) and bring a project along and make a whole evening of it.
Susan has an upcoming class Sunday, April 17th from 2-5pm you can use a vintage pillowcase to create a perfect apron with a log cabin block pocket. This project is sure to make your Spring entertaining all the more fun for you our your Easter brunch host.
