We are so thrilled to have an amazing BERNINA 820 mounted on a 10′ quilt frame for rental use at Modern Domestic. This is a special set up than can make your quilting dreams come true. From crib to king size, you can machine quilt with ease. With the help of this frame, your quilt is rolled over a middle layer of batting with a quilt back below, allowing you to move freely over the quilt top in rows.

This process requires some knowledge and practice. In order for you to achieve both, we are creating small group classes where you can learn the basics of working with the quilt frame and BERNINA 820. Once you complete this class, you are able to rent time on the frame and work independently!

Use of the BERNINA Quilt Frame is sold by the hour with a 2 hour minimum. In order to rent time, you must first take the Beginner Quilting on the Frame class to get oriented on the frame and learn about the machine. We schedule time all day and in the evenings (subject to Quilt Frame classes). Hourly rental does not include thread and or batting, but both are available for purchase at MD. We use only Aurifil cotton thread on the 820QE, and have a lovely color selection at the store.

Be sure you schedule enough time to complete your quilt! The quilts can not be taken off the frame and must be completed in your rental session, so plan for a little extra instead of a rush job; you will be happier and so will the person scheduled after you. Use of the frame is independent studio time. We are happy to remind you how to thread, wind a bobbin and trouble shoot if necessary, but if you are looking for one on one attention, we can schedule private quilting lessons with Cherri or Rachel for $75/hour.

In order to hold your time slot, full payment is required in advance. 72 hours notice is required for cancelation. If we have to cancel your session for any reason, you will receive a full refund or credit.
