This is the perfect class for those new to using sergers! We will cover basic threading and maintenance, as well as tips and tricks to make your serging look super professional and help you feel confident. This is a fun and dynamic class which is sure to unlock a whole new world of sewing skills. Topics covered will include 4 and 3 thread overlock, executing roll hems, how to finish your thread tails, and troubleshooting. Students are welcome to use classroom sergers if you are interested in learning about serging but haven’t purchase a machine yet. If you are bringing your own, give us your serger make and model # when you sign up!
Supply List for Serger Basics
- Your serger, foot pedal and power cord (or use one of ours, just let us know!)
- Your manual and a pen or pencil for note taking
- If using your own serger, be sure to have replaced the needles recently–Universal size 90/14 or 80/12. Check your manual to be sure you buy the correct style of needle. Examples are ELx705 and 15x1SP.* If you are using our serger, these are not necessary.
