Beginning Quilting on the Frame

Skill Level: Beginner

Learn to use the BERNINA Quilt Frame for independent machine quilting! In this class, you will get all ready for drop in quilting time, and learn the basics of the frame and machine. You will discover how to use the BERNINA 820QE as set up on the frame, how to load a quilt and some simple line designs for quilting success. The class will include 3 hours of independent time on the frame to be scheduled individually after class. In class, you will also get some tips and planning strategies on how to best use this practice time. Included in the price is quilt backing, batting, fabric and thread use. For your 3 hour independent session you will bring your own supplies or purchase them here at MD. Upon the completion of this class, you will be ready to make the most of your stack of unfinished quilt tops and turn them into lovely quilts quickly and professionally here by renting time by the hour.

  • Please bring a notebook or graph paper to class and a pen.
  • All supplies and tools for class included in class price.
Also, this class is a standing class. You will be on your feet for the entire 3 hours, please choose comfortable shoes and prepare to stand.

For your independent practice session you will need a top to work on, as well as backing and batting. We currently have 108″ wide backing available for purchase as well as batting by the yard. You will also need to provide thread. We require use of Aurifil thread on the 820QE. It is available for purchase at MD.
